About Me

Hey! My name is Tyler Buckley, and I am planning on having an Accounting major with a minor in  Spanish here at Miami University. I am a first year student with sophomore status, and I will be attempting to get my Masters in Accounting as well as my Bachelor’s in my four years here. I am from Worthington, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. I love to play and watch sports of all kinds, but my favorites are football, volleyball, baseball, and soccer. My favorite teams are the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Green Bay Packers, the St. Louis Cardinals, and Bayern Munich(German club soccer team). I am also a pretty big gamer, which is something I’ve been doing quite a bit more than usual on account of this abnormally cold weather. I also love to read, although I am extremely picky when it comes to reading for enjoyment. My favorite writer of merit is Shakespeare, but I don’t really read him much for enjoyment, just because I sometimes have a lot of trouble with reading his work. I can’t wait to get to know everyone in class!

  1. Hi Tyler! Wow– it sounds like you’ve got a great plan for your education! Getting a BA and an MA in that amount of time will certainly put you ahead of the game. I too love to play video games, and I agree that this season it seems I played more than normal. Any favorite games? I’m picky about what I read too. It’s great you bring up Shakespeare in terms of him holding a lot of credibility in the literature world– that’s something that will come up in class, particularly when we work on our third project.

Thanks for such a fruitful first post, and I’m looking forward to meeting you!

    1. Thanks so much for the compliment! In terms of my favorite games, I’m also fairly picky, but I love The Legend of Zelda, Halo, Battlefield, and The Elder Scrolls games, or at least the ones I’ve played. I’ve definitely enjoyed reading Shakespeare, but I always feel as though I don’t grasp some of the deeper meanings in his plays, particularly in Hamlet. I think my favorites from him of the plays I have read are Much Ado About Nothing and Macbeth, which I thought were very enjoyable.

      1. Ah, The Legend of Zelda! One of my sisters has a Zelda tattoo– although it’s the 16-bit image of Link. She also love the Elder Scrolls games, although I’ve never played them myself. I love the Portal series, though. Happy to have you in class!

  2. Hi Tyler- Thats awesome that your attempting to getting your Masters and Bachelors in four years! Good luck to you. But the main reason I wanted to comment on your post though is because I noticed your a Green Bay Packers fan, and I am too! My dads side of the family is all from the Green Bay area so I’ve been raised as a ‘cheese head’ my whole life, which I don’t mind at all. Jordy Nelson is by far my favorite player on the team. So what makes the Packers your favorite football team?

    1. Well I had liked the Packers for a long time, but I didn’t really truly call myself a fan until this season. I was actually watching them play the Steelers on TV and I was getting so hyped up about everything good that happened, that I thought I might be a Packers fan. Then, a few days later I open up an AJ Hawk jersey and Green Bay Packers winter hat, kind of “officially” making me a fan. I’d have to say AJ Hawk is my favorite player, partly because he’s a former Buckeye and partly because he plays the same position I did, although Jordy is definitely a close second in my mind.
